William W. Vaughn

William W. Vaughn

William "Bill" W. Vaughn, 80, of Lafayette, formerly of Monticello passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at his residence.


He was born on August 30, 1942 in Indianapolis to the late William M. and Bonnie (Bailey) Vaughn. On September 22, 1972 he married Karen (Sexton) in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death July 26, 2020.


He was a 1959 graduate of Washington High School in Indianapolis. He worked at Bev-Pak now Ball as a can inspector from which he retired.


He was a member of Monticello Christian Church and served on many committees including the worship team, as a deacon, and as a sound technician. Bill unselfishly volunteered and contributed his time to Bright Beginnings Daycare at the Church.


He enjoyed Christian fiction books, model trains, antique locomotives and old street cars. He liked science fiction, especially Star Trek and Harry Potter. Bill cherished time spent with his sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren and dogs.


Surviving are his sons, David (Marla) Vaughn of Indianapolis, Christopher L. Vaughn of Lafayette; sister, Sandra Kelley of Brownsburg; two grandchildren, Allison Vaughn (husband, James Deaton) of Lafayette, Emily Vaughn of Lafayette; great grandchildren, Elliott and Theodora Vaughn-Deaton and Willow Kenova Vaughn.


Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of funeral services celebrating Bill's life at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the Monticello Christian Church. Rev. Benji Riddle will officiate services.


Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.


Memorial contributions may be given to the Monticello Christian Church, the Alzheimer's Association, or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the church.
