William O. "Bill" Ashby, 80, of Monticello, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 8:10 p.m. at his home. He was born January 17, 1928 in Beaver Dam, Kentucky to the late Darrell Ashby the late Thelma (Maddox) Ashby. His marriage was to Helen T. Shultz at the United Methodist Parsonage in Beaver Dam, Kentucky on October 25, 1947. She survives in Monticello. Bill was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church. He was retired from St. Clair Refining Company where he was a Machinist Supervisor. He was a member of the Tippecanoe Country Club. He had been a member of the Kiwanis and Lions Clubs. He was a member of Libanus Masonic Lodge #154 of F & AM where he received his fifty year membership pin. Survivors include Son, Steve W. (Lynette) Ashby of Westmont, IL; Brother, Nathan Ashby of Valparaiso, IN; Grandson, Patrick Ashby of Alexandria, VA; Granddaughter, Lauren Ashby of Westmont, IL. He was preceded in death by his Parents; and a Brother, Vaughn Ashby. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 23 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, and also 1 hour prior to services at the Church Thursday. Funeral service will be conducted at the Monticello United Methodist Church, Thursday, January 24, 2008, 10:30 a.m. Pastor Brian Beeks of the Monticello United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will take place at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, in rural Monticello. Memorials may be made to the Monticello United Methodist Church or to Serenity Hospice of Lafayette.
