Wesley George Bedrick, Jr., 67, of Monticello, died at 8:15 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born April 12, 1946, in Fort Totten, New York to Wesley G. and Charlotte (Fleiss) Bedrick. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Sterrett) Bedrick. They were married in the Christian Church in Attica, Indiana on June 6, 1969, the 25th anniversary of D-Day. As a WWII history buff, Wes thought he would never forget their anniversary and it almost always worked. In 43 years, he only forgot once - luckily for him, so did Barb. He was a 1964 graduate of George Washington High School in Alexandria, Virginia and attended Purdue University. He worked as an air traffic controller and then a general manager and remerchandiser. In addition to a love of history, he enjoyed the ocean and had his scuba certification. He was a long suffering fan of the Chicago Cubs and also of the Washington Redskins. But most of all, he cherished his wife and daughters. Also surviving are two daughters, Cindy Bedrick (Doug Metrish) of Indianapolis and Cathy Bedrick (Dave Gullion) of Chicago. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday May 7, at the Monticello Christian Church and also one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday May 8, at the Monticello Christian Church with Reverend Chris Dodson officiating. Interment will be on Thursday at the Wolfe Cemetery, Georgetown, located in southern Indiana. Memorial contributions may be given to White County Systems of Care, a program to help children with emotional trauma. Envelopes will be available at the church.
