Past District Governor, Lion Wanda Wentland Wanda Edwards Wentland was born in Indianapolis on November 17, 1948 and died on August 20, 2013 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis. Wanda is survived by her husband of 42 years, Glen Wentland. Wanda graduated with honors from Kendall College, Indiana University and IUPUI ultimately receiving her Masters Degree. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honorary. Wanda retired after thirty years of teaching elementary and middle school students. During her teaching career, Wanda served as President of the Twin Lakes Classroom Teachers' Organization, Roosevelt Middle School Team Leader, District Uniserve Chairman, and Representative to ISTA and NEA conventions. In retirement, she served as secretary of the White County Retired Teachers Association. Wanda enjoyed a host of activities. She was a member of the Monticello Lions Club. She had served as President of both the Monticello Area and Logansport Lions Clubs, Zone and Region Chairman, Youth Exchange and Environmental Chairman, Cabinet Secretary, and Cabinet Treasurer. Wanda had been a counselor at Youth Exchange Camp Friendship and received the Bangladesh Governor's Appreciation Award. Other awards received are an International Leadership Award, three International Presidents Certificate of Appreciation, an Extension Award, a Melvin Jones Award with five Progressions and a W.P. Woods Award. In addition, Wanda and her husband, Glen hosted four youth exchange students and raised two Leader Dog puppies. Visitation will be will be from 3pm until the time of services at 5 pm, Sunday, August 25, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Rev. Sue Ringenbach of the Monticello United Methodist Church officiating. Private burial will be on Monday, in Roselawn Cemetery, Terre Haute.
