Wanda E. Kirkham, 73, of Monticello died at 12:34 am, Friday, April 22, 2011 at White County Memorial Hospital. She was born August 15, 1937 at Twelve Mile, Indiana to the late Walter L. and Edith Mae (Conrad) Winegardner. She married Charles R. Kirkham, Sr. on August 2, 1954. He preceded her in death June 2, 1990. She attended Pike Creek Church of the Brethren and also Zion Bethel Church. She was proud to have earned her general education degree while in her fifties. She lived in the Monticello and Logansport areas most of her life, and worked as a psych attendant at the Logansport State Hospital. She participated in a friendship program at the state hospital where she adopted patients and took them home for the holidays and family gatherings. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading, and camping with her great-grandchildren. She loved and cherished her family. She was adventurous, loved traveling, and was always willing to see new things. She was thoughtful and always placed others before herself. She is survived by two sons, Charles R. Kirkham, Jr. still at home, Ronald E. (Vonda) Kirkham of Russell Springs, Kentucky; two daughters, Hazel L. (Bobby) King of Idaville, Edith M. (Charles) Collins of Medford , Oregon; three step-daughters, Christina Titus of Logansport, Ida Mae (Jess) Murray of Walton, Rose (Denny) Cook of Walton; four brothers, Robert Winegardner of Logansport, Melvin (Wanda) Winegardner of Logansport, Jack Gordon (Ellie) Winegardner of Logansport, Ronald (Rita) Winegardner, Florida; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gordon L. Kirkham; brothers, William Bill , Victor, Harold Fuzz , and Burl Winegardner; and a great-grandson. Visitation will be from 11am until 1 pm, Monday, April 25 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 pm, Monday at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Pastor, Jeff Messer of the Zion Bethel Church officiating. Burial will follow at Pike Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Pike Creek Church of the Brethren or to Zion Bethel Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
