Vera M. Williams Anderson, 89, of Monticello, passed away Monday, November 19, 2007 at 9:35 a.m. at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center, Monticello. She was born August 25, 1918 at Pulaski County, IN to the late Cleo M.Kahler, and the late Grace M. (Brown) Kahler. Her first marriage was to Francis "Tubby" Williams. She then married the late Thomas Wayne Anderson January 30, 1965 in Burnettsville. He passed away July 8, 2003. Mrs. Anderson graduated from Buffalo High School. She also attended Beauty School. She co-owned the Front Cafe until 1960 with her first husband, Tubby. She worked for Clark and Moore Meat Packing before working as a dispatcher. She worked as a radio dispatcher for 17 years for the White County Sheriff Department, working under 3 different sheriffs. She was a member of the Sitka Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo at the nursing home and loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Anderson liked to shop. She enjoyed gardening and loved to can and cook. Survivors include: Daughter, Judy (Jim R.) Elliott, Sr. of Monticello, IN; Brother, Melvin "Bud" Kahler of Delphi, IN; Granddaugher, Jacki (Dan) Combs of Monticello, IN; 2 Grandsons, Dr. James (Rebecca) Elliott of Sitka, IN, Jeffery Elliott of Monticello, IN 4 Great-Granddaughters, Airianna (Zack) VanKleet of Lafayette, IN, Kahler Elliott of Sitka, IN, Laurin Elliott of Sitka, IN, Shea Elliott of Culver, IN 4 Great-Grandsons, Jim Elliott III of Sitka, IN, Xander Combs of Monticello, IN, Parker Combs of Monticello, IN, Travis Combs of Monon, IN she was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, and sister, Betty Martin. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with her grandson Dr. James Elliot officiating. Burial will be at Riverview I.O.O.F.
