Thomas N. Bazan,78, of Monticello passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 12:45 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He was born on August 30, 1930 in St. Louis Missouri to the late Sylvester and Margaret (McCasey) Bazan. His marriage was to Mary M. Diebold on December 29, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri. She survives. Mr. Bazan was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds. He attended St. Louis University. He was a 42 year employee of Monsanto and its subsidiaries. He retired in August of 1990 as the Benefits Director for Fisher Valve in Marshalltown, Iowa. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. He was a Master Gardner associated with Purdue University. He was a member of a small loving Christian community. He shared a love of gardening with his wife Mary and together they shared this love with their friends and family. Tom's generosity with his wisdom and kindness is reflected in his children and grandchildren who carry this forward in their lives. Other survivors include: 4 Sons, Andy J. (Mary) Bazan of Naperville, Illinois, John F. (Maria) Bazan of Willowbrook, Illinois, Jim P. (Patty) Bazan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Phill T. (Kelly) Bazan of Waukee, Iowa; 2 Daughters, Mary E. Bazan of Jackson, Michigan, Julie Dougherty of Maryland Heights, Missouri; 2 Sisters, Anne (Herb) Essex of Wilmette, Illinois, Peggy (Steve) Koch of St. Louis, Missouri; and 10 Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Thomas Bazan. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m.(EST), Friday, December 12 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home located 202 S. Illinois St., Monticello, IN 47960. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 601 Kenton St., Reynolds, IN 47980 on Saturday at 11 a.m.(EST) with Father Fintan Cummings officiating. Following the funeral mass will be a luncheon in the St. Joseph's church hall. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Reynolds at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions and or food items may be given to the White County Food Pantry, P.O. Box 323, Monticello, IN 47960.
