Thomas " Tom" Ancil, 49, of Monticello, died at 10:39 am on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette. He was born July 7, 1962 in Muncie to David L. and Mary (Mascari) Ancil. They survive in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. On April 28, 1984 he married Shelley Sanchez in Attica, Indiana. She survives in Monticello. He was a 1980 graduate of Seeger High School in West Lebanon. Tom was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Church where he and his wife Shelley served as youth leaders for many years. They also served as youth leaders at Zion Lutheran church in Kewanee, IL. He was a lay leader for the Indiana Kentucky Synod. He had worked as a salesman for Schwan's and also at Wabash Valley Farms for a few years. He had just recently returned to Schwan's in Monticello. He enjoyed landscaping, socializing with his friends, camping, and loved his dogs. He was also interested in refinishing furniture. He loved music and going to concerts. He had received several awards from Schwan's. He mostly enjoyed collecting friends, cherishing his family, and celebrating life with all of them. He is also survived by a daughter, Ashley Ancil of Lafayette; son, Sean (fianc Alexandra Farias) Ancil of Monticello; 2 sisters, Natalie (Gene) Rausch of Rossville, Vicki (Lee) Pikal of Clearwater, FL; 4 brothers, Tim (Anna) Ancil of Kansas City, Kansas, Steve (companion Deb Thomas) Ancil of Attica, David (Kally) M. Ancil of Oxford, Peter (Brooke) Ancil of Hopkinsville, KY; granddaughter, Izzie and another grandchild on the way; 18 nieces; and 14 nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm, Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Thursday. Funeral services will be at New Hope Lutheran Church, Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 11 am with Rev. Jim Ward and George Silavs officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello. Memorials may be given to New Hope Lutheran Church or to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
