Thelma Inez Criswell, 93, of Monticello, died at 3:00 am, Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center. She was born September 10, 1917 in Clay County, KY to the late Taylor Gilbert and Nancy Margaret (Roberts) Marcum. Her marriage was to William L. Criswell on December 8, 1937 in Logansport. He died January 17, 1993. Inez was a member of the Sitka Baptist Church. She was a charter member of the Women of the Moose where she held several offices. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She and her husband Bill owned a small restaurant on Main Street in Monticello called the Lakes Cafe. She worked at Sears and Roebuck's in the yard goods department when she lived in Lafayette. They also owned and operated the Spot Drive- on North Main Street in Monticello for over 30 years before selling it to their grandson. She was well known for her homemade pies, and was referred to as the pie lady. She was also known for her homemade chicken and noodles. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing trips to Minnesota, yodeling, gardening, and cooking. She cherished her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren. Words hardly describe what a fantastic and wonderful lady she truly was. She is survived by her daughters, Eugenia L. Jarrard of Lakeland, FL, Sherry (Don) Long of Monticello; sisters, Audry Funk of Monticello, Mary Alice (Jim) Pickett of Idaville, Ethel (Lou) Mullins of Jenison, MI; grandchildren, Dr. Bill Misenheimer, Steve Misenheimer, Greg (Sandy) Johnson, Mike (Thersa) Johnson, Randy (Sandy) Soliday, Jeff (DyAnna) Jarrard, Tracey (Tonya) Soliday, Denise (Dennis) Kincaid, Tammy (Mark) Kleeb; Jeff (DiAnna) Jarrard, Julie Jarrard, Jackie Jarrard, and Jody (Terry) Linback; 24 great- grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Misenheimer; brothers, Cecil "Tom" and Buel Marcum; sisters Sylvania "Sue" Marcum, and Mildred Hopkins. Visitation will be from 4pm until 7pm, Monday, September 20, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Women of the Moose will conduct services at 6:30 pm. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, at the funeral home with Dr. James Elliott of Sitka Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Hughes Cemetery.
