Stephen L. Copas

Stephen L. "Steve" Copas, 53, of Monticello, passed away at 9:51 am, Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at I.U. Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born on April 17, 1960 in Monticello to the late Oscar and Mary (Goad) Copas who survives in Monticello. Steve was a CDC client and an active participant of the CDC and its many resources and programs in Monticello. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monticello where he dearly loved being a door greeter. Those who knew him will remember him as very thoughtful and always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved anything Purdue, especially sports, and the friendly and ongoing rivalry between his brother, Mike an I.U. fan. Stephen is also survived by his three sisters, Marilyn Lowe of Lafayette, Marsha Kripisch of Medaryville, Connie Mayhew of Columbia, Maryland; and a brother Mike Copas of Monticello. He was also preceded in death by one nephew. Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8 pm, Monday, March 10, 2014 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home in Monticello. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, at the funeral home with Rev. Ryan Bailey of the First Baptist Church of Monticello officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery in rural Monticello. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church of Monticello. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
