Stella M. Hornback Seward, 88, Monticello, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2008 7:45 p.m. at Whispering Pines Rehabilitation Center, Monticello. She was born March 13, 1919 in Illinois to the late David Hornback and the late Mary (Haycraft) Hornback. Her marriage was to the late Roy Seward on February 13, 1937 Monticello. He passed away March 11, 1998. Mrs. Seward was a member of the Reynolds United Methodist Church. She and her husband owned and operated Lazy Oaks Trailer Park until Roy's death in 1998. She had worked as a beautician for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters Association. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, and being a homemaker. Survivors include: Daughter, Donna (Eugene) Applegate of Reynolds; 2 Brothers, David (Marlene) Hornback of Monticello, Earl (June) Hornback of Monticello; 3 Grandaughters, Debbie (Roy) Sizemore of Lebanon; Angela (Kelvin) Hughes of Monticello, Kyana (Eric) Stahl of Monticello; 3 Grandsons, Doug (Pam) Speer of Remington, Dustin (Jessica) Applegate of Idaville, Shannon (Michelle) Applegate of Monon; 18 Great-Grandchildren; and 5 Great-Great- Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Judith Ross; Son, Denny Seward; 2 brothers; 1 sister; and one great-grandson Douglas Speer. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 8 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Inskeep officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
