S.R. Buffalo Heart passed away suddenly on Friday October 20th after several long illnesses. Buffalo Heart or Heart to her friends was adopted by Ernest and Martha Erwin Stiers in 1946.Her happiest years were spent in Reynolds riding her horse, Cochise, as well as playing Cowboys and Indians with her friends or cousins.Buffalo Heart was an avid reader of mysteries and history. She loved to share this knowledge with others. Buffalo Heart was a Girl Scout Leader and taught outdoor survival skills to any who would listen. Buffalo Heart had several jobs in her life. She was most proud of her time as a nurse in a TB ward and as a Deputy Matron for White County Sheriff's Department. In her later years, she developed a passion for Native American causes and education. Heart is survived by her husband, Neil Eichhorn, her children Nikki and David, her Aunt Lola Erwin, her sister Nina Lawson and several cousins. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date at a site to be determined. In lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions can be given to your local food pantry. Buffalo Heart would never say good bye on the telephone--she would always say "later"...and that is what she believed--she would always say, "See you later in this life or the next".
