Sidney "Max" Conrad, 77, of Monticello, passed away at 3:59 am, Saturday, September 26, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born on December 18, 1942 in Lafayette to the late Sidney E. and Edna (Cochran) Conrad.
Max married Stella G. Wright on June 23, 1968. She passed away on February 6, 2006. He then married Mary K. Fultz on October 16, 2016 and she survives.
Max was a 1960 graduate of Wolcott High School. In his younger years he enjoyed playing basketball and working on the family farm. Max was an over the road driver for over 40 years and had driven over 3.5 million miles accident free. He was a lifetime member of the Monon Eagles, serving as secretary for two years. Max received a ten year pin for perfect attendance in Sunday school at the Old Reynolds Christian Church. His favorite book was the Bible. He loved watching the Beverly Hillbillies, Hee Haw and Andy Griffith. His favorite meal was ham and eggs with hash browns. He was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan. His greatest joy was being a Little League baseball umpire.
In addition to his wife, Mary of Monticello he is survived by his son, Terry Jo Conrad of Monticello and his daughter, Kimberly Lynn Conrad of Monticello; brother, Jim (Barb) Conrad of Monticello; granddaughters, Chelsye Conrad and Abree Winkler both of Monticello; grandsons, Ethan Winkler of Monticello and Justin Batta of Lafayette; his beloved dog, Ernie; his beloved cats, Precious, Stella, Bobby, George, Henry, Sissy, and Athena.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant son, Sidney Gerald Conrad; and his pets, Mickie and Mikey.
Public visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Those attending the visitation and private family service are required to wear a mask.
Funeral services will be private with Rev. Chris Dodson of the Monticello Christian Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello.
Memorial contributions may be given directly to the funeral home to assist family with final expenses with envelopes available at the funeral home.
