Shirley Robbins

Shirley A. Robbins, 81, of Monticello, passed away at 2:00 am Sunday, February 25, 2018 at White Oak Health Campus.She was born on April 7, 1936 in Montmorenci to the late Hans F. and Helen (Goldsberry) Ruhlander. She married Larry Robbins and he preceded her in death.She was a Montmorenci High School graduate and was then a homemaker.She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, and was a member of the Women of the Moose. She loved flowers, home decorating especially in the Victorian era and roosters. "Shirl the Pearl" is what her friends liked to call her. She was a classy lady. When she walked into a room, she made a statement. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her family.Surviving are her sons, sons, Mark Biddle of Monticello, Ken Biddle of Sun City, AZ; daughter-in-law, Dee Biddle of Monticello; brother, Bill Ruhlander of West Palm Beach, FL; and two grandchildren, Brittney and Danny Biddle, both of Monticello; and her ya ya sisters, Sharon Knebel, Lisa Murray, Ruthie Coffing, and Brenda Bracken.She was also preceded in death by sons, Wes, and Brad Biddle; brother, Bob Ruhlander, and granddaughter; Lola Biddle; and her special buddy, Blake, her dog of seventeen years.Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until the time of services at 7:00 pm celebrating Shirley's life on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Rev. Tim Lyons officiating.Private burial will be at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to Happy Tails or a Humane Society of the donors choice.
