Shirley E. Mrzlack, a resident of the White Oak Health Campus Legacy Neighborhood, in Monticello, Indiana, passed away on July 2, 2018. She was born December 24, 1933 to the late Arthur and Lucy Brooks, Jr. in Orange, New Jersey. She graduated from Columbia High School in South Orange, NJ, and from the Orange Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Orange, NJ. On September 1, 1956, she married Robert Mrzlack, who preceded her in death on January 17, 2016. They were married for 59 years.Shirley was a Registered Nurse for many years working in hospitals, nursing homes, and school systems in Hammond, Monticello, Cedar Lake and St. John. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and visiting and vacationing with her children and grandchildren. She was devoted to and supportive of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.Shirley is survived by her brother, Arthur Brooks of Pauleys Island, SC; a son, Robert B. (Susan) Mrzlack of Monticello; daughters: Kristi (Jerry) James of Fort Pierce, FL; Beth Howard of Marietta, GA; and Heather Mrzlack of Bailey, CO; grandchildren: Michael (Jennifer) Mrzlack of Indianapolis; Anthony (Allena) Mrzlack of Grand Rapids, MI; Ellen Mrzlack (Wesley) Thacker of Indianapolis; Lisa Mrzlack (Justin) Beighley of Chicago, IL; Sam Howard of San Diego, CA; and Carly and Ben Scheck of Bailey, CO; and great grandchildren, Harrison and Drake Mrzlack, and Norah Mrzlack. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey, and grandchildren, David and Amy Deison.A private service is being planned for a later date.
