Shirley A. Harris, 72, of Monticello, died at 11:35 pm, Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Home Hospital in Lafayette. She was born on August 8, 1936 in Idaville to the late Ira Charles and Ruth I. (Greenburg) Stearns. Her marriage was to Charles E. Harris on August 16, 1954 in Monticello. He survives in Monticello. Mrs. Harris a 1954 graduate of Monon High School. She lived in Monticello and the White County areas her whole life. She had worked at Bryan Manufacturing and also RCA. She retired from Hooks/CVS as a cashier. She was kind hearted, soft spoken, had a good sense of humor and was quick-witted. She liked to try new recipes and was well known for her noodles. She enjoyed crossword puzzles. She was a homebody and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her Son, Michael D. (Carole) Harris of Monticello; 2 Daughters, Fay M. (Gary) Quade of Brookston, Trina J. (Steve) Clerget of Monticello; 2 Brothers, Ira "Shorty" (Lois) Stearns of Largo, FL; Donald (Nancy) Stearns of Monticello; Sister Margie (Don) Seitz of Sterling Heights, MI; 2 Grandsons, Riley Clerget, Alex Clerget; 7 Granddaughters, Amy Clerget, Sheila Harris, Holly Harris, Amberlie O'Toole, Libby Gilbert, Brittany and Haley Quade She is also preceded in death by, 3 Sisters, 3 Brothers and granddaughter Kendall Quade Visitation will be from 4 until 8pm, Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Monday at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Messer of Zion Bethel Church officiating. Burial will be at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello. Memorial donations may be given to the White County Food Pantry or to Riley Childrens Hospital. Envelopes will be available.
