Sheila Ann Nicely, 74, of Monticello, Indiana died at 5:00 pm, Friday, December 7, 2012 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. She was born June 19, 1938 in Chicago to the late Clarence and Bernice (Talbot) Johnson. On October 21, 1972, she married Thomas E. Nicely in Chicago who survives, and he resides in Monticello. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Monticello. She was a graduate of Maria Catholic High School in Chicago and also attended Cook County Medical School. She was a home maker. She was a member of the Calico Cut-Ups at the Monticello United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Merry Mixers extension club. She enjoyed crafts and sewing. She made the children's clothing, costumes, and blankets while her children were young, and more recently, for her grandchildren. She was a perfectionist and entered no project lightly. She was determined and persevered as she began raising 4 boys on her own, and then came along Tom and Tommy. She will be forever cherished by her family. Sheila is also survived by 5 Sons, Michael (Wendy) Nemec of Menifee, California, Daniel (Lori) Nemec of Lamont, Illinois, James (Colleen) Nicely of Midlothian, Illinois, John "Jack" (Debbie) Nicely of Mokena, Illinois, Tommy Nicely of Monticello, Indiana; and 10 grandchildren, Wesley, Charolette, Ryan, Melonie, Sean, Jimmy, Jon, Jacob, Kadie, and Matthew. Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm, Wednesday, December 12 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. The Rosary will be at 3:30 pm. Memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association or to a Veterans organization of the donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
