Sharon Kay Watson, 60, of Monticello, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Franciscan St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette.She was born on January 8, 1958 in Wabash to the late Harold "Bryce" and Mary (Quarry) Mitchell who survives and resides in La Fontaine. On March 12, 1977 she married Clayton "Clay" Watson in Marion and he survives.She was a 1976 graduate of Southwood Junior-Senior High School near La Fontaine. She spent many years as a homemaker. Once her children were closer to high school graduation, she worked as the office administrator for the White County Soil and Water Conservation District for over 17 years. Sharon also worked alongside her husband, Clay with the Boy and Girl Scouts at Camp Buffalo for twenty years. Sharon was a member of the Marion First Christian Church and the Wabash River Cycling Club. She was a Master Gardener, Master Naturalist and involved in 4-H. She was a lover of nature and of the outdoors. She was very involved with environmental education and presented at many educational institutions over the years. Sharon was passionately involved with the annual raft trip for high school students at the Tippecanoe State Park for the past 25 years.Above all she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren.She is also survived by her children, Grace (Thomas) Marshall of Indianapolis, and Isaac (Carrie) Watson of Morgantown; siblings, Bryan (Dena) Mitchell of Wabash and Cavin (Shirley) Mitchell of Texas, and Brenda (Lyndon) McGlothin of Fort Wayne; and four grandchildren, Emilia, Dylan, Elias, and Orion.She was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Harold Mitchell and brother, Myron Mitchell. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home located at 202 South Illinois St., Monticello, IN.Memorial services celebrating Sharon's life will follow visitation Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Roslyn Harrison of Marion First Christian Church.The family encourages memorial contributions to be given to the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation https://www.in.gov/inrf/ or to a charity of the donor's choice.
