It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Scott Charles Davis, on March 7th, 2023 in Lafayette, Indiana.



Scott was 65years old.Scott was born on April 26th, 1957 in Jacksonville, Florida. Adopted by his loving parents Raymond and Elaine Davis, Scott grew up in Mt.Prospect, Illinois and graduated from Barrington High School (1975).


He attended both Lake Forest College and Iowa State Universities with hockey scholarships. At age 20, he received his first job as a rookie officer with the Barrington Police Department, and in 1979 he was hired by the Elgin Police Department where he faithfully served the city of Elgin for over 27 years before retiring as a Lieutenant in 2006.


In 1989, Scott married Kathleen Joan (Wylde) at the Baker Hotel in Saint Charles, Illinois and they lived many happy years together with their children and grandchildren.



Scott was a life-long Blackhawks fan and motorcycle lover. He loved reading and studying history. Scott had a heart for the Lord and served in both prison ministries and as a Guardian ad Litem for CASA, Kane County.


In 2020, Scott was able to move permanently to Monticello, Indiana where he lived lakeside.


He is survived by his wife Kathy Davis of Monticello, Indiana and his daughters Annie (Jason) Leppin of South Elgin, Mandy (Zack) Kerruish of Hampshire, and his sons Adam Davis (Rochelle) and Donald Davis. He isalso survived by his grandchildren Isabel and Lucy Leppin, Payton Kerruish, Kameron and Khloe Davis, and Kayla and Loralei Davis and his brother, Raymond “Pete” Davis and his wife and family.


A visitation will be held on Friday, March 24th from 4-8pm at Laird Funeral Home in Elgin, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation for military and first responders.


Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
