Sada Stangle, 89, of Monticello, passed away at 1:40 pm, Friday, June 19, 2015 at Monticello Healthcare Center. She was born on March 18, 1926 in Tokyo, Japan to the late Kogero and Asayo (Takahashi) Watnabe. Her marriage was to John I. Stangle and he preceded her in death January 4, 1990. Sada moved to the United States from Japan in 1951 and moved to Monticello in 1967. She became a U.S. citizen in 1975. She was a devoted wife and mother. She worked at Bryan Manufacturing and also at RCA. She was an auxiliary member of the DAV and VFW Post 2231. She was also a member of the Monticello Eagles 2570. She was an excellent cook and was known for Japanese cuisine. Sada enjoyed BINGO, flowers, tending to her indoor plants, and was an avid Colts fan. She is survived by her children, Mary Stangle and Eukie J (Rhonda) Stangle of Monticello; two sisters; grandchildren, Joseph (Bethany) Stangle of Lafayette, Betheny Stangle of Monticello; and great-granddaughters, Aurora and Claira. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Rev. Jeff Messer of Zion Bethel Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Bell Center Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Monticello Funeral Honor Guard sponsored by the VFW, AmVets, and American Legion organizations or to Wounded Warriors with envelopes available at the funeral home.
