Ruth I Buschman

Ruth I. Buschman, of Monticello, peacefully passed away at 2:35 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at I.U. Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello. Ruth was born April 21, 1924 in Crawfordsville, Indiana to the late Clarence and Alta (Harmon) Bir. Her parents moved to Reynolds when she was in elementary school. After high school, Ruth traveled and worked in California during the war. She then returned to Reynolds and on May 25, 1945 in St. Joseph Catholic Church she married Carl E. Buschman of Reynolds. He preceded her in death September of 1981. They bought a farm in Delphi in 1954 and farmed until selling the farm in June of 1968, when they moved to Plymouth. In October of 1970, they returned to Reynolds. Ruth was a seamstress and made and altered clothes for many years. Ruth also was a cook at the White County Council on Aging for several years. She was an avid reader and could be found with a book in her hands most of the time. Surviving are her seven children, Steve (Sandy) Buschman , Jim Buschman , Dennis (Marge) Buschman, Rick (Bev) Buschman all of Reynolds, Linda (Steve) Martin of Burrows, Pat (Arnold) Rhoads of Plymouth and John (Dorothy) Buschman of South Orange, N.J.; 26 grandchildren; and 43 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her brother Kenneth (Alice) Bir; two sisters Dorothy (Gene) Houston, Naomi (Bill) Homan; and three grandsons, Todd, Bradley and Nicholas. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, March, 15, 2014 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds. Visitation will commence immediately following the Rosary until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at noon with Father Finton Cummings celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Reynolds. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the White County Council on Aging or to a charity of the donor's choice.
