Ruth A. Williams, 94, of Monticello, passed away at 7:20 am, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Monticello Healthcare Center. She was born on September 15, 1920 in Wheatfield to the late Alvin Harvey and Cassie A. (Belcher) Maxwell. On December 23, 1939 she married Emmett Williams at Rensselaer and he preceded her in death August 4, 2002. She attended Wolcott High School and was a Homemaker. Ruth attended Oak Grove Christian Church. She was a homebody who loved gardening, cooking, and was known for her Christmas cookies. Surviving are her children, John W. (Carolyn) Williams of Bradenton, FL, William H. (Alice) Williams of Remington, Nancy (Wayne) Sanders of Monon, Donald L. (Debbie) Williams of Ocala, FL; sister, Peg Smith of Monon; twelve grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and twenty-three great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother; two sisters; a great-grandson; a great-great grandson; and a great-great granddaughter. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Rev. Dr. Ashli Cartwright-Peak officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, or to St. Jude Children's Hospital for cancer research. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
