Russell F. Sickler

Russell "Russ" Sickler, 77, of Chalmers, passed away at 4:30 pm, Friday, February 20, 2015 at Franciscan St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette. He was born on January 2, 1938 in Guernsey to the late Cecil and Laura (Kellenburger) Sickler. On March 18, 1990, he married the former Bethel (Wood) Lee and she survives. He was a graduate of Reynolds High School and was a life long farmer. He was a member of Chalmers Community Church. Russ was a member of Libanus Lodge #154 F&AM, Murat Shrine Club of Indianapolis, Moose Lodge in Monticello, AMVETS, and the American Legion. He served as past President of the North White School Board and was a past Ex-Cel Co-op Board member. He also served on the boards of Chalmers Community Church and Guernsey Church of the Brethren. Russ was a current member of the White County Ditch Board. He is also survived by his children, Cindy (Dan) Gilbert of Monticello, Tammy (Steve) Carter of Cincinnati, OH, Karen Mill of Overland Park, KS, Janet (Dan) Glotzbach of Monticello, and Scott (Melissa) Lee of Washington, IL; brother, Floyd (Norma Jean) Sickler of Idaville; and eleven grandchildren, Laura, Nicholas, Katelyn, Megan, Shalan, Mason, Courtney, Kendal, Kenzie, Kyle, and Shelby. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by sons, Gary and Kevin; sisters, Agnes, Alma, Edna, and Ruby; brothers, Clarence, Ross, and Clyde; and grandson, Zachary. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Masonic services will be at 7 pm followed by a Shrine walk through. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Henderson of the Chalmers Community Church officiating. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be given to the Chalmers Community Church, Guernsey Church of the Brethren, or to the White County Shrine Club with envelopes available at the funeral home.
