Roy 'Mike' Walters

Roy Michael "Mike" Walters, 69, of Idaville, passed away at 12:43 pm, Thursday, February 10, 2022 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.He was born on September 2, 1952 in Lafayette to the late Paul "Pete" and Adeline A. (Oley) Walters.
Mike worked at Alloy Rods, then as a custodian for Twin Lakes School Corporation from which he retired. He also owned and operated his own mowing business which his brother and nephews later took over. He was a member of the American Legion and AM VETS, both of Monticello. He was an avid fan of the Cubs, Colts, Purdue and Notre Dame sports. He enjoyed old westerns and old television shows on TV Land. He was a supporter of his niece's, nephews and his grand nieces and nephews activities.
Surviving are his niece and nephews, to whom he was like a father to - Ryan (Derren) Walters of Russiaville, Brent (Sarah) Walters of Punta Gorda, FL, Mallory (Brannon) Newth of Monticello, and Jason Walters of Mulberry; grand nieces and nephews, Lincoln, Lucy, Alyiah, Elijah, Christian, Seth, Abbygail, Madison, Kyrstin, Ethan, and Macy, several step nieces and nephews, and step grand nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Richard "Rick" Walters and infant brother, David Lee Walters.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, February 18, 2022 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Darl Clemons of the Faith Covenant Fellowship Church officiating.

Burial will follow at the Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery with full military rites.
