Rosemary J. Rayburn

Rosemary J. Rayburn, 78, of Monticello formerly of Reynolds, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at her residence.

She was born on June 27, 1945 in Pearl City, Illinois to the late Howard and Helen (Butler) Lane. On January 1, 1989 she married John Rayburn at the Monticello United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on October 3, 2018. 

Rosemary was 1963 graduate of East Pike High School in Milton, Illinois. She worked as a truck driver, her greatest joy. She also worked as a bank teller for Lafayette Bank and Trust, as a cashier at WalMart, and at Annarae's Physical Therapy. 

Rosemary attended Monticello Christian Church. She was a member of the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed mystery books, John Wayne and NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon. 

She is survived by sons, Rex (Debbie) Carter of Monticello and William Carter (Stephanie Edison) of Reynolds; daughter, Helen "Beth" (Jack) Hays of Idaville; stepsons, Bruce (Kathy) Rayburn of Rensselaer, James Rayburn of Wolcott and John "Mike" (Diane) Rayburn of Reynolds; stepdaughter, Brenda Davis, Rurpert, ID; one sister, Judith "Judy" Withrow of Evansville and one brother, Russell (Judy) Lane of Alton, IL; 22 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way. 

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Bruce Carter; stepson, Robert Rayburn; two brothers and six sisters. 

Visitation will be on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 4:00 pm until time of services celebrating Rosemary's life at 7:00 pm at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. 

Graveside committal services and burial will be at 11am on Saturday at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
