Roger S. Wolf, 79, of Monticello, passed away at 5:20 a.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center. He was born on August 26, 1929 in Chalmers to the late Adlai W. and Mary Jane (Woods) Wolf. His marriage was to Eyvonne Bane June 18, 1955 in Oxford, Indiana. She preceded him in death on March 12, 1995. Mr. Wolf was a 1947 graduate of Reynolds High School. He served in the United States Air Force during Korea, and was stationed at Thule Air Force Base in Greenland. He was an aircraft mechanic. He was a member of the Reynolds United Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir. He lived and farmed in White County most of his life. He retired in 1994. He was a past member of the Tippecanotes Barbershop Chorus. He participated in the Monticello Community Choir. He was a Tenor and soloist in the area for many years. He was a member of the VFW and AMVETS, of Monticello, and the American Legion of Chalmers. He was an Indiana State Parks enthusiast. He was an avid fan of Purdue University sports, and also a fan of the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed playing euchre. He enjoyed life in the company of family and friends. Other Survivors include: Son, Steven R. Wolf of Reynolds; brother, Charles W. (Katie) Wolf of Monticello; Sister, Joy D. Howard of Frankfort; Sister-in-law, Cosette Wolf of Lebanon He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eyvonne; and 4 Brothers, Adlai W. Wolf Jr., Burdell "Rusty" Wolf, Merrill Wolf, and George Wolf. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m., Friday, January 23 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Saturday, January 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Carl Davis of the Reynolds United Methodist church officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello with full military rites. Memorial donations may be made to the Reynolds United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
