Roger H. Wiese, 69, of Reynolds died at 8:37 am, Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at his residence. He was born February 27, 1941 at Lafayette to the late Lorenz and Effie (James) Wiese. He married the love of his life, Sue L. Ross on January 4, 1962 at Riverside, California and she survives. He was a graduate of Reynolds High School and was the salutatorian of his class. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was lifetime member of St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds and was currently serving as chairman of the congregation and church council. He had served as deacon, trustee, usher, and various other capacities of the church. He was a past member of the White County Council and served as president during a portion of his sixteen year tenure. He was currently serving on the Honey Creek Township Board of Trustees. He had been a Honey Creek Township 4-H leader for nine years and also served on the 4-H beef committee for many years. He continued to be a great supporter and promoter of the White County 4-H Program. He was one of the founding members of the White County Pork Producers and enjoyed working at the Pork Producers Tent at the White County Fair. He was a member of the American Legion Post 268 of Chalmers. He enjoyed playing dominos, poker, and never missed reading an issue of National Geographic in the past fifty years. He was dedicated to his family and cherished time spent them, especially his grandchildren. He was a livestock man. His life was farming and he looked forward to going to work every morning with his son and grandsons. In addition to his wife, Sue, he is survived by a son, Chris (Kim) Wiese of Reynolds; daughter, Cindy (Jeff) Campbell of Reynolds; brothers, James (Rita) Wiese of Kansas City, Missouri, Carl Wiese of Valley Springs, California, Charles (Sandy) Wiese of Prattville, Alabama; grandsons, Adam (Krystle) Wiese, Blake Wiese, and companion, Jessica Collard; granddaughters, Effie and Erika Campbell; two great-grandchildren and one on the way. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Dena Wiese. Visitation will be from 3 pm until 8 pm, Sunday, February 20 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home and also one hour prior to services, Monday at the church. Funeral services will be at 11 am, Monday, at St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds with Rev. Charles Blakey officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Reynolds with full military rites provided by the American Legion Post 268 of Chalmers. Memorial contributions may be given to St. James Lutheran Church and daycare ministry, or to White County 4-H in care of the White County Ag Association.
