Robert L Young

Robert L. "Bob" Young, 85, of Monticello, passed at 8:50 am, Monday, January 12, 2015 at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette. He was born on June 17, 1929 in Huntington to the late Charles L. and Lyda Elizabeth (Hall) Young. On June 9, 1950 in Catlettsburg, KY, he married JoAnne, and she preceded him in death September 15, 2008. Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello where he was active in the church choir, one of his greatest enjoyments. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp. He formerly owned and operated the Busy Bee and Youngs Cafeteria. He then worked for Dana Cosmetics for a number of years prior to opening Monticello Custom Frame Shop which he successfully operated for twenty years from which he retired. He enjoyed assembling model planes, reading, and picture puzzles. He is survived by children, Robert T. Young of State College, PA, Sandra (Douglas) Lanoue of Rensselaer, Elizabeth (William) Koleszar of Seymour, Latricia Young of Monticello, Cynthia (Russell) Lowman of White Oak, TX, and Mary Jo (Rick) Hayden of Monon; brother, Charles "Cy" Young of Huntington, WV; eighteen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela G. Young; brother, Richard; and sisters, Patricia and Kathryn. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of memorial services at 3:00 pm, Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello. Rev. Thomas Albaum will officiate services. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello general fund or to benefit the church choir with envelopes available at the church.
