Robert Leon "Bob" Wrede, Sr., age 89, passed away on the Saturday, June 11, 2022, at his home on Lake Shafer in Monticello, Indiana. He was born on May 28, 1933, to the late Harvey and Myrtle (Turner) Wrede in Danforth, Illinois.
Bob graduated from Twin Lakes High School in 1951 and married Joyce Ann Long on December 8 of that year in Bloomington, Indiana.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was the owner of Wrede and Sons Excavating in Monticello as well as Wrede Trucking in Lafayette. He loved fishing and cherished time with his family.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Joyce; children, Rickey "Skip" (Vicki) Wrede of Lafayette, and Ted (Kelly) Wrede, Robert (Jan) Wrede, Jr., and Kenneth (Ronda) Wrede of Monticello; brother, Roe (Linda) Wrede of Cloverdale; son-in-law David (Debbie) Shook; sister-in-law Nancy Wrede; 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Shook; brother, Harvey Raymond "Ray" Wrede; brother-in-law, Max Leon Long; sister-in-law Sharon Kaye (Floyd) Crouse; and father- and mother-in-law, Milton and Helen Long.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, June 18, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, 202 S. Illinois, in Monticello. The funeral service will begin at 1 pm with Reverend Jeff Messer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monticello.
