Robert E. Keefer, 81, of Monticello, passed away at 12:40 pm, Monday, July 6, 2020 at Monticello Healthcare.
He was born on October 30, 1938 in East Chicago to the late Paul N. and Margaret (Dunlop) Keefer.
Robert was a graduate of Morton High School in Hammond and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked as a supervisor for Heckett Engineering Steel Company and after his retirement he drove for Hubbard GM Center.
He attended the Monticello United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed going to the Indy car races, attending White Sox games, and liked the Bears and the Colts, mostly the Bears.
Surviving are his children, Kimberly Keefer (companion, Rodney Stewart) of Valparaiso, Gregory Keefer of Gary, and Jeffrey Keefer of Brownsburg; grandson, Alexander Hutman; nieces, Lorna (Tim) Andres, Paula (Joe) Stucker, Debra (Tom) Krulik, Tina (Brad) Hahn; fifteen great nieces and nephews; and nine great-great nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Johnson.
A graveside memorial service will be at 10:30 am on Monday, July 27, 2020 in Bedford Cemetery near Monon with Rev. Brian Beeks from the Monticello United Methodist Church officiating services. Military rites will be rendered at the cemetery.
