Robert E. 'Bob' High

Robert E. "Bob" High, 65, of Monticello passed away Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 5:10 a.m. at his residence. He was born March 27, 1942 in Lafayette, IN to the late Isaac High and the late Helen (Harner) High Lundy. His first marriage was to Barbara Bol. She passed away in May of 1986. He later married Gayle Crowell Boyer on June 19, 2003 at the Monticello Christian Church. She survives in Monticello. Mr. High was a 1960 Graduate of Chalmers H.S., and he attended L.A. Harbor College, Los Angeles. Mr. High was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam Era. He also retired from the United States Coast Guard, serving during Desert Storm. He had been a law enforcement officer serving with Purdue University, Riverside California Sheriff's Department, Los Angeles Police Department, and the White County Sheriff's Department. He Retired from law enforcement in 2004. He also piloted the Madam Carroll for a number of years. He was a Basic Flight Instructor at Boyer Flight Park. He was a member of the Monticello Christian Church. He was a dual member of Libanus Lodge #154 and Royal Center Lodge #585 F&AM. He was Past Master three times. He was also a member of the Crystal Chapter #165 OES where he was a Past Worthy Patron. He was a member of the Long Beach Scottish Rite, Long Beach, CA. He was a member of the Murat Shrine, Indianapolis, and also the White County Shrine Club. He belonged to several flight organzations including ASC, USUA, EAA, and the Heartland Hawks. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, reading, drawing, and photography. He enjoyed taking local school children the Shrine Circus in Indianapolis. The pride and joy of his life was spending time with his grandchildren. Other survivors include: 2 Sons, Shane High of Lafayette, IN, Shawn (Kelly) High of Chalmers, IN; Stepson, Jim Boyer of Burnettsville, IN; Stepdaughter, Jamie (Brian) Musall of Burnettsville, IN; "Mom" Marliyn High of Chalmers, IN; Brother, Bruce (Sarah) High of Chalmers, IN; 2 Sisters, Cindy (Marty) Denham of Chalmers, IN, Alice (Rick) Johnson of Lafayette, IN; Granddaughter, Kammi High; Grandson, Tyler High; 2 Step Grandsons, Nathan Boyer, Hunter Musall; 3 Step Granddaughters, Katie Boyer, Angella Musall, and Audrey He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held from: 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 4 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m., and a Shrine walk-by will follow. Funeral services will be conducted at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Wednesday, December 5, 2007, 11:30 a.m. with Pastors Chris Dodson and Ken Smith officiating. Burial will take place at Seceeder Cemetery, near Burnettsville with full military rites. Memorial contributions may be given to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, or to Serenity Hospice of Lafayette.
