Robert J. "BJ" Mursener, 73, of Monticello, passed away at 9:53 pm, Saturday, April 3, 2021 at White Oak Health Campus.
He was born on April 3, 1948 in Kewanee, IL to the late James and Betty (Brodbeck) Mursener. On October 10, 1970 he married Julie Dikeman at the Peoria, IL and she survives.BJ was a graduate of Princeville High School and received his bachelors degree in business from Illinois State University. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He had worked at Jordan Manufacturing as Vice President of Sales from which he retired in 2017. He was a member of the American Legion and served on the Monticello Airport board where he was involved in the expansion of the airport. BJ enjoyed flying and had his own plane. Robert enjoyed fishing and traveled to Canada for many years with his family and friends.In addition to his wife, Julie of Monticello he is survived by his children, Neil (Rachel) Mursener of Gilbert, AZ and David (Megan) Mursener of Indianapolis, and Amanda (Nate) Spencer of Lafayette; a sister, Jane (Bob) Wetzel of Reno, NV; and grandchildren, Logan, Connor, Mayah, Aiden, Dechlan, Inara, Amelia, and one on the way.He was also preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Mursener.Private graveside services will be held at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Harold Rutledge officiating. A celebration of BJ's life will be coordinated and shared at a later time.BJ will be laid to rest beside his close friend Lurch Wilson in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to Autism Speaks.
