Rita C. Cameron, 81, of Monticello, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born on August 13, 1942 in Chicago to the late William and Nancy (Casasanto) Pelzman. On September 7, 1991 she married James Cameron and he survives.
Rita worked as a secretary for Cambridge Homes before moving to Monticello in 1991. She owned and operated Big Timbers Resort. She also worked as a custodian at the White County Courthouse for 18 years, where she retired. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Lynn (Jeffrey) Richards of Sawyer, MI, Thomas (Amy) Hull of Tinley Park, IL, Christopher (Leah) Hull of Monticello; three siblings, Diana Haney, Nancy Ann Dowd, Cecile Soich; grandchildren, Jennifer (Brett) Gunderson, Jeffrey (Grace) Richards, Jessica (Vinnie) Mazany, John (Hannah) Richards, Jewel Richards (companion Oscar), Jillian Richards, Joseph Hull, John Hull, Thomas Hull, Claire Hull, Vanessa Hull, James Hull, Colton Hull, Oliver Hull; great grandchildren, Eloise, Callahan, George, Theodore, Gianna, and Hazel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Allan Hull, and sister, Sally Kirkham.
