Richard L. Williams

Richard “Rick” Williams, age 82, of St Johns, FL passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 6:25 pm due to complications from Lewy Body Dementia. His daughter was by his side.

He was born at home in 1941 in Logansport, Indiana to the late L Paul Williams and Eva M (Richards) Williams.

Rick graduated from Logansport High School in 1959. He worked on the C&O railroad, while continuing to work on the family farm. He also worked at General Tire in Logansport before relocating to Southern California.  In Glendora and Santa Ana, CA, Rick worked for Valley Crest Landscaping. Rick returned to Indiana in 1975, residing on his 2 farms in Logansport for 4 years while working at Wilson Foods and then moving to Monticello, IN where he continued working at Wilsons and owned and operated Beaver Dam Inn in Norway for 17 years. He managed the TCC for a few years as well. After retiring and selling Beaver Dam Inn, he managed the Roof Gardens at Indiana Beach for 2 summers and helped anyone that asked for it (and even helped some that didn’t ask for it!). He was a member of the Lions Club, Eagles, VFW, Good fellows, Redmans, Moose, and Tippecanoe County Club.

Rick had a servant’s heart, just like his mother. In September of 2019, he relocated to Florida to live with his daughter and son-in-law.

Rick was as funny and ornery as could be, but would help anyone by giving them the shirt off his back!

Jesus paid all his debts when Rick accepted Him into his heart as a young child at Bethel Methodist church in Logansport, IN. He had reverence for God that showed up in his actions rather than his words, as it says in the Bible:
“Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress…” James 1:27a (TPT).

Rick was a great Dad and he will be truly missed!

He leaves behind his son, Daniel Williams of Austin, TX, his daughter, Dawn (Steven) Smith of St Johns, FL, and his son, Marc Souza of Haleiwa HI; four grandchildren, Sarah (Rahiem) Rodulfo of Washington, DC, Rachel (Tom) Eross of St Johns, FL, Abby Tarczynski of St Johns, FL and Toby Smith of Jacksonville Beach, FL; five great grandchildren, Bryce, Renly, Ava, Ryan Grace and Aubree; two sisters, Kay (Rob) Filgo of Dublin, CA and Mary (Doug) Anderson of Logansport, IN, and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by, sisters, Sally Williams (infant), & Pattie Melin; one brother, David Williams and a nephew John Melin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home is entrusted with local care.
