Richard W. "Dick" Dahlenburg, 87, of Monticello, formerly of Reynolds passed away at 3:20 pm, Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at I.U. Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.He was born on August 18, 1928 at the family home in Reynolds to the late Walter and Gladys (Demery) Dahlenburg. On October 7, 1950, he married Eldine Hartke at St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds and she survives.He was a graduate of Reynolds High School and served in the United States Marine Corp. Dick worked with his hands and was a carpenter and brick mason in partnership with Dahlenburg Bros. Construction of Reynolds. He was proud to be a loyal blood donor and gave gallons of blood over the years. Dick loved collecting antiques especially anything brass or something he could polish. He collected and restored antique cash registers. His favorite pass time was to go to flea markets. He was a life long member of St. James Lutheran Church and served as trustee, deacon, financial secretary, and he ran the church mimeograph for all of the church's printing needs.In addition to his wife Eldine, he is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (husband, Lewis, III) Hites of Buffalo; brothers, Dale Dahlenburg, and Arnold (wife, Lorretta) Dahlenburg both of Reynolds; grandchildren, Heidi (Travis) VanMeter, Lewis (wife, Sarah), Hites, IV; and great-grandchildren, Audrey, Layla, Cohl, Hudson, and Ada Rai.He was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister, Herbert and Esther Dahlenburg.Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm celebrating Richard's life Monday, February 29, 2016 at St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds with Rev. Charles Blakey officiating.Burial will follow at the St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Reynolds with military rites.Memorial contributions may be given to St. James Lutheran Church.
