Richard "Dick" Douglas, 65, of Monticello, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 9:30p.m. at White County Memorial Hospital. He was born March 13, 1943 in Lafayette to the late Lance Douglas and the late Margaret C. (Cowger) Douglas. His marriage was to Annette Bixler on November 27, 1987 in Knoxville, TN. She survives. Mr. Douglas attended Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. He was raised in the Lutheran church. He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He was an Electrical Supervisor for ALCOA retireing in 1993 after 31 years of service. After his retirement, he worked 10 additional years as an electrical consultant for ALCOA. He was a member of the American Legion and the AMVETS of Monticello. He was a former member of the Masons, Shrine, and Grotto. He enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed NASCAR, and was a fan of Sterling Marlin. He also liked Purdue University Basketball. Other survivors include: 4 Sons, Jeffrey Douglas of Lafayette, Ivan (Trina) Douglas of Camden, Jason (Kristy) Bixler of Burnettsville, Wesley Bixler and (fiance Sheena Brady) of Lockport; 3 Daughters, Patricia Schaefer of Yreka, CA, Hope (Greg) Whitmore of Idaville, Becky (Kevin) Milburn of Logansport; Sister, Patsy (Jack) Hayes of Williamsburg, VA; and 10 Grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, March 20 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, 202 S. Illinois St., Monticello, IN 47960. Funeral services will be at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Friday, March 21, 2008, 10 a.m. Father Gerald Borawski of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church will officiate services. Burial will be in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery with full military rites. Memorial contributions may be given to the AMVETS Riders of Monticello.
