Randal Blissitt, 81, of Monticello passed away Monday, July 14, 2008 at 1:17 at Seton Specilaity Hospital of Lafayette. He was born September 7, 1926 in Louisville, KY to the late Herbert Blissitt and the late Silva D. (Haycraft) Blissitt. His marriage was Jeannette Teter March 7, 1955 at the Monon Baptist Church. She preceded him in death March 5, 2000. Mr. Blissitt was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He was a self employed barber for over 40 years operating shops in Reynolds and Lafayette. He had been a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion, and the VFW. He enjoyed his family, golfing, ballroom dancing, and playing his guitar. He also enjoed entertaining his many friends. Survivors include: Son, Danny (Lynnora) Blissitt of Brookston; 2 Daughters, Suzanne Blissitt of Monticello, Sherry (Scott) Metzger of Monticello; 6 Grandchildren; 2 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Brothers, Clevie (Jo Gay) Blissitt of Monon, Steve (Jackie) Blissitt of Brookston. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 16 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Raderstorf of the Monticello United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello with military rites. Memorial donations may be given to the White County United Way.
