Ralph J. Rosentreter, 92, of Monticello died at 1:20 am, Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at White County Memorial Hospital. He was born August 27, 1918 in White County Indiana to the late Emil and Ada (Waltz) Rosentreter. His marriage was to Esther R. Webb July 24, 1945 at Reynolds. She survives. Ralph was a lifetime member of St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds where he held various offices over the years. He was a 1936 graduate of Chalmers High School and also attended Purdue University. He served as a First Lieutenant with the 8th Air Force in the European Theatre. He worked ten years at the Bank of Reynolds. He moved to Monticello from Reynolds in 1962. He was a Past President of Peoples Savings and Loan, a position he held for 20 years, and also served on the Board of Directors. He served on the Monticello Reconstruction Committee following the 1974 tornado. In 1980, he was the recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash issued by Governor OBannons administration. He was a driving force establishing the building trades program at Twin Lakes High School. He was a member of the Monticello Kiwanis Club and served as past president. He was a member of the Tippecanoe Country Club. He volunteered with the White County Food Pantry every Monday and held several offices until his health failed. He was an avid master gardener and enjoyed golf. Survivors include daughters, Beth (Tom) Westfall of Reynolds, Nancy (John) Lewis of Kansas City, Kansas, Susan (Jim) Novack of Agoura Hills, Calif.; son, James (Connie) Rosentreter of Franklin, IN; brother, Dean Rosentreter of Waveland, IN; sister, Norma (Howard) Mann of California; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a brother, Harold Rosentreter; and sister, Margaret Mahoy Visitation will be from 9:30 am until Noon, Thursday, October 28 at St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds. Services will follow at Noon at the church, with Pastor Charles Blakey officiating. Burial will be in Riverview I.O.O F. Cemetery with full military rites.
