Ralph H. Knauer was born on November 2, 1933 in Newark, New Jersey to Herman O. and Martha E. Knauer. They had immigrated from eastern Germany in the late '20s. He married Ruth B. Brock on June 9, 1956. They celebrated their 60th anniversary with their entire family last summer and she survives. Ralph took piano lessons for several years and enjoyed playing in several venues. Ralph served at several rescue missions in New Jersey.Ralph graduated from NJIT (NCE) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and then went on to Texas Tech University graduating with a degree in Industrial Engineering (Biomechanics). He enjoyed working for At&T for 36 years as a senior engineer where he earned a patent for a Venturi Nozzle.Ralph was certified as a teacher trainer for Evangelism Explosion in 1986 and went on to teach the course at four churches in New Jersey, Indiana and Florida. He held evangelism meetings at the local penitentiary for several years.Ralph and Ruth moved to Indiana in 1994 to be near their daughter and her family. In addition to his wife, Ruth, he is survived by three children, Robert A. Knauer, Sharon A. Roach and husband Rick, and Ronald C. Knauer, six grandchildren, Alison Knauer, Kristen Knauer, Courtney Dyer (Kyle), Richard Roach (Stephanie), Briana Roach, Dylan Knauer; and four great grandsons, Jeremiah Knauer, Braxton Dyer, Barrick Dyer, and Ezra Roach.A memorial service will be held at 11 am at Zion Bethel Church on Saturday, April 29, 2017.
