Phyllis M. Belden, 71, of Monticello died at 7:00 am, Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at her residence. She was born October 21, 1939 in Lafayette to the late Melvin Dexter and Vera (Coffman) Baker. She worked most of her life and was a laborer at Bassett Rotary Tool in Monticello. She enjoyed playing pool and dancing. She was the matriarch of the family. Surviving are two sons, Michael (Nancy) Decker of Lafayette, Kevin W. (Denise) Vice of Indianapolis; daughter, Marty Belden of Monticello; sister, Melva Wooden of Oklahoma; and two brothers, Larry (Janice) Dexter of Corbin, KY and Carl (Jean) Gray of Winamac; seven grandchildren: Michaela Decker, Cole Decker, Joni McAleer, Amanda Vice, Rachel Vice, Gordon Belden, Seth Belden; and one great grandchild, Cadence McAleer. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Ziemer and three sister's: Norma Jean Kelly, Janet Alexander, and Bobby Werderitsh; brother, Melvin Dexter. Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8 pm, Thursday, Sept 22, 2011 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, September 23, 2011 at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Vale Cemetery, Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be given to Riley Hospital.
