Phyllis Jean Zarse

Phyllis Jean Zarse, 84, of Lafayette, formerly of Monticello, passed away at 6:45 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2008 at St. Anthony Healthcare, Lafayette. She was born October 14, 1923 in Brookston to the late Walter K. Smith Sr. and Lula Marie (Morehouse) Smith. Her marriage was to Lester L. Zarse on February 22, 1940 at the St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1976. Phyllis attended Brookston High School and was a homemaker. She lived most of her life in White County until she moved to Lafayette 12 years ago. She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, and attended the Grace United Methodist Church, Lafayette. Survivors: 3 Sons, Larry (Doris) Zarse of Lafayette, IN, Kenny (Sharon) Zarse of The Villages, FL, Denny Zarse of Willington , OH; 2 Daughters, Beverly (William) McCool of Monticello, Penny (David) Locks of Dayton, IN; 1 Brother, Walter K. (Martha) Smith of Fowler; 1 Sister, Alice Marie (Gene) Lindley of Eaton, OH; 13 Grandchildren; 28 Great-Grandchildren; and 1 Great-Great Grandson. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1p.m., Thursday, July 24 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello Funeral sevices will be conducted at 1 p.m at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Johnson of the Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place at the St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Reynolds.
