Phyllis J. Leader

Phyllis J. Leader, 92, of Monticello, passed away at 6:23 pm, Friday, May 6, 2022 at I U Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
She was born on October 6, 1929 in Monticello to the late Roy and Ruth (Hamilton) Haas. On December 28, 1947 she married Robert Charles Leader in Round Grove, IN. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2000.
Phyllis was a graduate of Monticello High School. She was a farmer and sold grain bins. Phyllis loved gardening. Her yard was her passion. She enjoyed hosting family reunions and gatherings at the farm as well as her home on the lake.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy Leader of Palm Bay, FL; brother, William (Joy) Haas of Idaville; granddaughter, Jacqui Leader (Troy Walters) of Brookston, Robert (Amanda) Leader, III of Brookston, and John Leader (Jessica) of Eau Galle, FL; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Leader, Jr.; four sisters and an infant brother; and daughter-in-law, Connie Leader.
The family is coordinating a celebration of Phyllis' life which will be held later this summer.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Monticello Funeral Honor Guard.
