Phyllis J. Connell, 83, of Monticello, formerly of Buffalo passed away at 7:55 am, Friday, May 30, 2014 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 24, 1930 in Indianapolis to the late James W. and Selma (Doerges) Cox. On November 24, 1948 she married William "Bill" Connell in Monon and he preceded her in death in October of 1983. Phyllis graduated from Buffalo High School. She was a CNA at Turtle Creek now known as Monticello Assisted Living and Health Care and also operated the Blueberry Fruit Stand and Patch in Buffalo. She was a member of the VFW Women in Logansport and attended the Brethren Church in Buffalo. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her family. She loved bird watching especially Humming Birds, playing cards, taking care of the patients at the nursing home, attending grandchildren's' sporting events, and collecting photos. She is survived by three daughters, Inez Connell of Buffalo, Kathy Hardesty of Yeoman, Melinda Connell of Louisiana; three sons, Jim (Cathy) Connell of Burnettsville, Artie (Marcia) Connell of Buffalo, Jody (Becky) Connell of Buffalo; sister, Jennie Morehouse of Raccoon Lake, IN; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a special nephew, Steve Connell. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Colleen Connell, and dear friend, Elmo "Stinky" Davis. A graveside memorial service will be held on June 22, 2014 at Hughes Cemetery at 1:30 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Buffalo Fire House from 2pm to 4pm, carry-in's are welcome. Memorial contributions may be given to the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Dept.
