Patricia Ann "Pat" Yates, 85, of Monticello, died at 8:32 am, Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, IN. She was born May 21, 1927 in Monticello to the late Harry J. and Faye (Smith) Davis. Her marriage was to Richard R. Yates in Monticello and he preceded her in death in 1984. She was a member of Monticello Christian Church. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1945, and earned an Associate Degree from Elkhart Business College and was a member of the Mu Sigma Chapter of PI Zeta Sorority. She worked as an Administrative Clerk for White County REMC and later as secretary for the Camden Avenue Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky. She was also a member of the American Legion Womens Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo at the White Council on Aging, but most especially, loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by a son, Patrick (Carole) Yates of Louisville, KY; stepson, Edward R. Yates of Bowling Green, KY; sister, Phyllis Westfall of South Bend, IN; 7 grandchildren, Athena Yates, Gabriel Yates, Josiah Yates, Erica (Jeremy) Boyd, Hope Feeney, Taylor Yates, Lexie Yates; and 5 great-grandchildren, Jeremy Boyd, Avrie Feeney, Gillian Yates, Talon Brown, and Zachary Feeney. She was preceded in death by a son Michael Yates. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Chris Dodson of the Monticello Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F Cemetery, rural Monticello. Memorials may be given to Monticello Christian Church or to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
