Merle Keith Johns, Sr.

Merle Keith Johns Sr.,78, of Monon passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at 12:45 am , at White County Memorial Hospital. He was born October 21, 1930 at Monon to the late Harry E. and Vleria (Bullington) Johns. His marriage was to Catherine Allen on June 2, 1951 in Jeffersonville, IN, and she survives. Mr. Johns was a member of the Monon First Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force retiring in 1971 as a Master Sergeant. He collected coins and stamps. He enjoyed watching Westerns. He loved time spent with his family. Other survivors include: a Daughter, Amanda Johns of Monticello; Sister, Alma Redmon of Reynolds; 2 Brothers, Jerry (Mary) Johns of Monticello, David (Sandy) Johns of Reynolds; 2 Grandsons, Shawn (Laura) Johns, Dustin (fiance, Melissa) Johns; Great-Grandson, Andrew Johns He is preceded in death by his parents; Daughter, Linda Johns; Son, Merle Johns, Jr.; Three Brothers, Harry "Jr.", Paul, and Sam Johns. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm, Sunday, January 4 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monday, January 5, 2009, at 11 am with Rev. Steve Birch of the Monon First Baptist Church Officiating.
