Melynie J. 'Pete' Mason

Melynie J. "Pete" Mason, 61, of Monticello died at 3:45 pm, Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Seton Specialty Hospital in Lafayette. She was born April 10, 1950 in Lafayette to the late Jeremiah George and Meredith Jeanne (Farner) Stangle. She married James Daniel Mason December 26, 1970 in Monon. He survives. She was a 1969 graduate of Twin Lakes High School. She was a member of the Monon Community Church. Melynie retired from A.O. Smith. She was secretary of the AmVets Womens Auxiliary. She enjoyed her pets, gardening, but most especially, enjoyed and loved her grandchildren. Also surviving are two daughters, Kelsey Griffey of Lafayette, Kari Mason of Lafayette; son, Jesse Mason of Monticello; step-daughter, Jessica (Dennis) Rowland Jr. of Lafayette; and 7 grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8pm, Friday, September 9 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 am, Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Don Newman officiating. Burial will be at Bedford Cemetery. A dinner for family and friends will follow at the Monon Community Church. Memorial contributions may be given to American Heart and Diabetes Associations or to the Monon Community Church.
