Mary J. Gunther

Mary J. Gunther, 80, of Monticello died at 9:15 pm, Friday, November 26, 2010 at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center. She was born December 26, 1929 at Mishawaka to the late Oscar Christian and Alta (Bonnell) Ropp. Her marriage was to Ray Gunther on April 19, 1948 and he preceded her in death December 8, 1988. Mrs. Gunther was a homemaker. She loved feeding birds and rabbits. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, and reading. Surviving are sons, Raymond (Joyce) Gunther of Monticello, Bruce (Rose) Gunther of Monticello; sisters, Pat (Bob) Hahn, of North Carolina, Betty (Robert) Duffy of Idaville; brother, Jerry (Myra) Ropp, of Alabama; former daughter-in-law, Yalanda Tartar of Kokomo; grandchildren, James Gunther, Billie Jean (Brian) Simpson, Bruce Gunther Jr., Rosie Dilling, Donald Dilling; and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Samantha, Breeanna, and Elizabeth. A memorial visitation will be from 11 am until 1pm, Saturday, December 11 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 1 pm, Saturday, December 11, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Buck Cemetery, Thornhope, Indiana Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
