Marilyn "Mary" Holloway Horton, 92, of Monon passed away peacefully May 27, 2018, at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello.She was born December 26, 1925 in Wyaconda, Missouri, daughter of Burnham Woodward and Floy Evelyn (Pash) Holloway. On June 14, 1948, she married Richard Ward Horton in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1991.Marilyn grew up in Galesburg, Illinois, graduated from Knox College in 1948, and after studies at University of Iowa, opened the first Physical Therapy Department at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg. After marriage, she and Dick lived in Monon where they raised their children. Marilyn became an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Monon, serving as Sunday School teacher, deacon and elder. After the Monon church closed, she moved her membership to First Presbyterian Church of Monticello where she was active in Presbyterian Women.She belonged to American Legion Auxiliary, Tri Kappa, Knox College Fifty Club, Fortnightly and other bridge clubs. She served on Tippecanoe Country Club Board of Trustees and also with Helping Hands.Marilyn enjoyed playing bridge and golf, cooking, gardening, traveling, and especially being with family and friends. Remembered for her laugh and her engaging sense of humor, she had an endearing quality for laughing at herself and had a gift of making people feel comfortable. She truly loved life. She was a caring, nonjudgmental friend, mother and grandmother. She lived and laughed and loved; her spirit remains with us. Marilyn is survived by three children, Mary Holloway "Holly" (Steven) Overman of Seattle, Washington, Richard Greenwood "Buzz" (Margaret) Horton of Monon, and Juliet Radcliffe (David) Flory of Arlington, Virginia; and by grandchildren Samuel Moore (Holly) Horton of Zionsville; Sarah Horton (Matthew) Mahar of Carmel, Matthew Horton Overman of Seattle, Jonathan Holloway (Anjean) Overman of Santa Monica, CA, and Peter Whittaker (Kaitlyn) Overman of Seattle; eight great-grandchildren survive, Bridget, Katherine and Benjamin Horton of Zionsville; Lauren and Alexandra Mahar of Carmel; James and Ada Overman of Santa Monica; and Oliver Overman of Seattle.Preceding her in death along with her husband and parents are her brother Robert Keith Holloway and granddaughter Anne Harrington Horton.Funeral services celebrating Mary's life will be at 3 pm, Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the Monticello First Presbyterian Church with Rev.
