Marie E. (Vogel) Burns, 88, of Monticello,died on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 2:12 a.m. in Monticello. She was born on November 17, 1920 in Reynolds, to the late Charles T. and Mary (Pelfresne) Vogel. She married Francis O. "Red" Burns on July 17, 1943 at St. Joseph Church in Reynolds. He passed away April of 1997. She graduated from Reynolds High School. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Mrs. Burns was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. She was a member of Delta Theta Tau. She was a member of the Our Lady of the Lakes Altar and Rosary Sodality. Mrs. Burns hobbies included: bowling, bridge, gardening and grandchildren. She is survived by 3 Sons, Mark A. (Nancy) Burns of Monticello, IN, Michael J. (Vicki) Burns of West Palm Beach, FL, Steven F. Burns of Monticello, IN; 3 Daughters, Liz M. (Phil) Brummett of Waterloo, IN, Debra K. (Jay) Hughes of Indianapolis, IN, Beverly A. (Ron) McMurray of Monticello, IN; 16 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sister, Loretta Bossung and brothers, Vincent Vogel, Francis Vogel, Lawrence Vogel and Charles Vogel. Visitation will take place from 2pm to 6 pm, Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Our Laday of the Lakes Catholic Church, Monday, August 24, 2009 at 10 am with Father Gerald Borawski and Father James Goodrum officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery in rural Monticello. Memorial Donations may be given to the White County Community Foundation to benefit the White County Food Pantry.
