Luther E. Odle, 83, of Monticello died at 5:20 pm, Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Seton Specialty Hospital of Lafayette. He was born May 25, 1926 at Williamsport, Indiana to the late Arthur Curtis and Jennie (Potter) Odle. His marriage was to Rose E. "Rosie" Larson on June 21, 1952 in Williamsport. She preceded him in death on January 15, 2004. Luther was a 1944 graduate of Williamsport High School. He was a 50 year member of the Monticello United Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir for nearly 40 years. Much of his life was devoted to working in agriculture areas including working for National Grain in Reynolds which is now Co-Alliance formerly Excel Co-Op. He also retired from McGill Manufacturing in 1989, and previously worked for Howard and Son Implement as well as for Hubbard GM. He was a former member and Past Master of the West Lebanon Lodge # 352 F&AM. He was also a former member of the Knights of Pythias of Williamsport. He enjoyed gardening, reading, crafts, and baking pies. He also enjoyed music and was a member of the Monticello Community Choir and Band. He was also a fan of Purdue University Basketball. Luther never lost his sense of humor and wanted everyone to know he truly enjoyed being a member of the Table of Knowledge at Kinsers Bakery. He is survived by 2 daughters, Cheryl Odle of Monticello, Teresa Odle of Monticello; brother, Ralph T. Odle of Lafayette; sister, Janiece Lambert of Frankfort; 2 brother-in-laws, Vic (Janice) Larson of West Lafayette, Jack (Susie) Larson of Crawfordsville; Sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Melton of Lafayette; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Four brothers and a sister also preceded him in death. Visitation will be from 4pm until 8 pm, Monday, February 1, 2010 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, at the Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Beeks officiating. Burial will be in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello. Memorial donations may be given to the Monticello United Methodist Church Music Department, or to the Twin Lakes Education Foundation. Envelopes will be available.
